Sunday morning, at a longboard-contest somewhere in Germany.
Saturday was already great, I had a good time shooting all the nice, crazy, beautiful, inspiring and highly talented people who came together to have a good time skating on those long wooden planks. I grab my camerabag, my longboard, a coffee and start again. Another day in baking sunshine, seeing faces, meeting longboarders from all over europe, making friends. And document everything on film.
I spent some of the best days of the past two years like this, travelling from mountains to molehills, documenting the longboard-scene surrounding me. All the dancers, freeriders, downhill-racers, sliders, cruisers, slalom-geeks, all the die-hard-ladies and all the nice gentlemen I met on the hills, the parks and streets ... amazing.
»Faces of Longboarding« is a series of portraits and moods that provides a deep insight into the scene, a close look at people who really love that lifestyle, who travel from one end of europe to the other with no money, no sponsor, but tons of love and dedication.
After two years I want to return some of the love I received, with this campaign I want to raise money to print a photobook with a best of of all the portraits I took. Preorder your book here, along with a limited screenprint or a set of postcards!
Who am I?
My name is André Kniepkamp, I'm a selftaught photographer who works and lives in Cologne, Germany. After long years of skating and surfing, I started longboarding a few years ago. Fascinated by the diversity of the scene I began with my »Faces of Longboarding«, an analog photo-project I was working on for the last two years.
