Until the beginning of the 90s many proskaters skated their own promodel deck with their very personal shape. These decks are also referred to as shaped decks. Some had for example a narrow nose and a wide tail. Other decks had a distinctive shape like the Christian Hosoi promodel reminiscent of the shape of a hammerhead shark. Also most oldschool skateboards are asymetrical and have a flat to low concave.
Even with these decks you can do almost every trick. This is however much more difficult than with the modern forms of the nineties (popsicle).
