Bushings are made of polyurethane and determine the steering behavior of your trucks. You can choose between different shapes and duros. The main difference in bushings is the restoring force (rebound). The characteristics and also the color of a bushing can vary according to manufacturer and urethane mixture with the same hardness. The steering characteristics of an truck can be individually adjusted to the various needs of each
rider through different bushings and duros.
Here the characteristics of the different bushing forms are explained.
From left to right: Double Barrel, Barrel / Cone, Double Cone and Tall Barrel Bushings.
Double Barrel: A lot of rebound, stability
Barrel / Cone: A mixture of stability and fast steering
Double Cone: Faster dipping and steering of the trucks, less rebound
Tall Barrel: Development from the downhill / freeride range, deeper immersion of the trucks (Lean). Only fit in trucks with a sufficiently long kingpin.
Shapes like Eliminator, Fat Cone or Chubby limit the Lean and make the trucks much more stable and can also be used to counter wheelbite vulnerable setups.
The hardness of a bushing is selected according to body weight. Here are our recommendations for the optimum bushing setting for cruising or carving.
60 - 80kg: 85a - 90a (standard bushings in most longboard trucks)
36 - 60kg: 75a - 80a
Up to 35kg: 75a
Less than 35kg: 74a - 60a
Here are our recommendations for the optimal bushings adjustment by body weight. The choice of the durometer of a bushing can vary depending on the purpose of use and personal preferences.
Bodyweight Soft Medium Hard
0 - 22kg: 60a 65a 75a
22 - 45kg: 65a 78a 81a
34 - 56kg: 80a 83a 85a
45 - 65kg: 85a 87a 88a
34 - 79kg: 87a 89a 91a
45 - 88kg: 88a 93a 94a
79 - 99kg+: 91a 93a 97a
For topmount setups, we recommend to choose plus 5 duro harder bushings with the same body weight.
