In the late 1980s, Powell Peralta had an established vert team, fully loaded with Tony Hawk, Steve Caballero, Mike McGill, and Lance Mountain. In an effort to expand the company's pro team into the growing "street-style" market, they began recruiting new "street" pros.
After Tommy Guerrero came Mike Vallely, then Ray Barbee. The fourth Powell-Peralta street pro to receive a deck model was Steve Saiz from Long Beach. His graphic design featuring a totem pole of Native Americans was the second illustrated in 1989 by the newly acquired artist Sean Cliver.
Saiz rode for Powell-Peralta until the early 1990s when unfortunately his knee gave out.

The re-issue decks from Powell-Peralta are faithful reproductions of their predecessor models from the 1980s, featuring original graphics on both top and bottom, the original shape and concavity. Manufactured in collaboration with our partner in Mexico. The materials include US hard rock maple and adhesive that meets our specifications and is guaranteed against delamination for the entire usable life.
